LLB Programme with an Interdisciplinary Edge

The Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission both recognise the three-year professional undergraduate degree programme known as a Bachelor’s in Law and Legislation or LLB. The comprehensive three-year law curriculum will prepare you for a demanding and enriching career in various legal professions.

Traditionally, the law has been perceived as an independent discipline with different methods and styles. At BMU, we upend this tradition by promoting collaboration between different streams of knowledge. Expert faculty from the School of Management and the School of Engineering & Technology regularly engage with students at the School of Law through lectures, events, and open discussions.

The highly experienced faculty at BMU’s School of Law use their skills to impart leadership lessons and challenge students to help them pique their interest in the study and practice of law and related matters. Dedicated to providing the best for their students by challenging, training, and mentoring them throughout the course, our faculty helps to transform them into thought leaders and lawyers with a difference.

The LLB curriculum emphasises law but expands the existing knowledge and interests that students already have from their undergraduate degrees in fields other than law by providing a broad range of electives that enable the autonomous pursuit of interests.

BML Munjal University (BMU) students will benefit greatly from an interdisciplinary atmosphere with a broad spectrum of electives and honours papers infused with the accumulated knowledge and expertise of the Law School, School of Management, School of Economics & Commerce, and School of Engineering and Technology.

Duke

BMU School of Law is collaborating with Duke University’s School of Law. Duke has one of the very best law schools in the United States (it was most recently ranked 11 in the US) and prides itself on providing leadership at the national and international levels in efforts to improve the law and legal institutions through teaching, research, and other forms of public service. Under this collaboration, BMU students will be nominated to Duke’s innovative summer academies in the United States and the Netherlands and will be able to attend those programs at a significant discount. Duke and BMU have also agreed on a research exchange program where faculty may visit the other institution. BMU will submit recommendations for their best and most compatible students for Duke’s LLM program, which prepares students for legal practice in the US. Unlike most LLM programs, students admitted to Duke’s top-ranked program are eligible for financial aid as determined by Duke.

Syracuse

BMU School of Law is collaborating with Syracuse University and its College of Law, where US President Joe Biden received his law degree, to bring hands-on US-based legal education to our students. Under this agreement—the first of its kind between Syracuse and an Indian law school—selected students from BMU will be able to study for a semester in Syracuse without having to pay additional tuition, a saving of over Rs. 20 lakhs for BMU students. BMU students will also be able to save similar sums on Syracuse’s LL.M. program and will even be eligible to receive a US LL.M. in only one semester after completing their Indian degrees. Syracuse offers BMU students substantially discounted tuition to their unique two-year Juris Doctor program, which puts foreign students on par with US students for legal practice in the US, as well as summer programs that build students’ English language lawyering skills.

Pittsburgh

BMU School of Law is collaborating with the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, a more than 120-year-old legal institution that provides some of the best legal education in the world in the fields of health law, international commercial law, intellectual property, and innovation law. BMU law students have priority access to this top-ranked US law program at a significant discount, allowing them to complete their degrees for a small fraction of what students at other Indian law schools are able to offer for their students studying abroad. BMU law is Pittsburgh School of Law’s only Indian partnership.

Others

BMU School of Law also has agreements for priority admission and discounted tuition for BMU students in international summer immersion programs. BMU Law Students are eligible for 10% discounts on tuition for courses in the London School of Economics’s summer program (covering issues of UK, European, and international law), 20% discounts on tuition at Fordham University’s three-week Summer Institute (covering issues on US law and legal skill building), up to 50% discounts on tuition for Syracuse University’s six-week English and lawyering skills program, created to train students in international legal practice, and 50% discounts at Duke Law School’s summer programs in the United States and the Netherlands.
