Making things better.
Drive efficiency – with reliability
Today’s industry owes its existence to mechanical engineers. In fact, innovations in mechanical engineering drive the world today, literally. From creating better rig equipment to bigger ships, faster cars, or better everyday products, mechanical engineers help keep the wheels of the industry turning.
The Mechanical Engineering course at BMU helps you solve critical problems by developing products that drive efficiency into our daily lives. From taking an idea, and developing it into a functional prototype, to performing a thorough engineering analysis for its required form and fit—our graduates are trained to do it all—confidently.
The mechanical engineering faculty at SOET BMU are domain experts who use their experience to challenge students and help them pique their interest in materials, production, engineering, and problem-solving. Dedicated to providing the best for their students by challenging, training, and mentoring them throughout the course, our faculty helps to transform them into passionate engineers and entrepreneurs.
Meet Our FacultyThe Mechanical Engineering curriculum at SOET BMU helps students create a link between theory and practice. Covering a wide variety of production, engineering, and automation, the course curriculum is broad and deep—helping students understand how to solve tomorrow’s problems today.
Read MoreEngineering students at BMU benefit from a holistic understanding of materials, production, innovation, design, new culture, leadership skills, and different practices conducted in other parts of the world. International immersion is optional for undergraduate students (B. Tech) during their 1st/2nd/3rd-year summer breaks. Conducted at top universities in the UK and Singapore, our budding engineers benefit from a holistic understanding of the global engineering environment.
Read MoreBMU’s students have won several competitions and accolades at prestigious national and international competitions, including Burnout, Nitro Surge, LFR, and Technoxian. Additionally, students at BMU have made significant contributions to engineering journals of repute including Springer Lecture Notes, IEEE, Communications in Computer and Information Science, and many others.
Know MoreThe Career Guidance & Development Centre (CGDC) has undertaken an extensive engagement program with the industry to support students to chart an enterprising career path. Over the years, a robust, holistic approach has led to significant growth in overall placements of students with some of the biggest names in the industry.
Read MoreAdmission to the engineering programs at BMU’s School of Engineering is highly selective.
Eligibility:
10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 60% in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and JEE Mains. BMU may consider an exemption of up to 10% in JEE scores for students with 10+2 scores of over 75% on a case-to-case basis. SAT / BMU-SAT / CUET eligibility is subject to change and will be notified in due course.

Mechanical Engineering is amongst the most diversified and versatile engineering branches and plays an important role in all aspects of human life. A Mechanical Engineer develops products by taking an idea, developing it into a functional prototype, performing engineering analysis (structural, thermal, vibrational, static, dynamic etc.), applying manufacturing technologies & production processes for the required form and fit required to perform the intended function.
Mechanical Engineering usually covers areas such as:
Here at BMU, Mechanical engineering education aims at developing student acumen with critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop and design interesting products and systems; learn analytical tools to achieve the design and manufacturing constraints; expand understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes to develop products; build collaboration and communication skills with teamwork to bring ideas and products to market. This holistic learning enables students to become well-rounded professionals and entrepreneurs for management and leadership roles in the industry and society in their career journey.
The students work on hardware and software technologies available in well-equipped labs and workshops to provide integrated learning with theory and concepts. Given the focus on project-based research-led learning and solving real-world problems, students get hands-on experience in the application of concepts of mechanical engineering to solve a variety of problems and create interesting products and applications.
An all-around approach to hone their problem-solving, project management, and leadership skills equips students with the knowledge and confidence to excel in any industry.
